Paula The Only Way

There are SO many things that I think the church has misinterpreted over the years that may have caused us to be narrow-minded in our thinking. There are some still that I cannot get away from and may eventually find my way (God's way) around. Here is my take on one issue: Jesus being the only way to heaven. Where do we get this from? "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father but through me." Perhaps there are more scriptures - such as "For God so loved the world that He… Continue

KerenThea A Meditation for Thanksgiving Day: "I arise today through the strength of heaven..."

A friend of mine sent me this link yesterday, mentioning that we can always be grateful for God's offer of His Strength. I thought it was beautiful and wanted to share it here too. Morning Prayer Peace Keren Continue

KerenThea I Love You This Much

(Promise) Love connects souls and that is forever... You cannot make yourself fall out of love with a person any more than you can make yourself fall in love with a person. Love takes you and then has you forever. Something happens that cannot be changed. The love is always there - no matter where… Continue

KerenThea O wad some Power the giftie gie us

The gift, To see yourself as others see you. It takes courage, the strength of God, to surrender. To be fully exposed to a silent observer, toward the gift of profound Love (care), Deep humilty, thus compassion, Awareness. ***** (from "To a Louse", by Robert Burns the Great Poet of Scotland) O wad some Power the giftie gie us To see oursels as ithers see us! Ginny Pamplin on prayer and portals

There has been much discussion among our group on the subject of prayer, and lately it has taken a turn to the wondering about how the life giving force of prayer flows through the believer. For a quite some time I have felt as if an understanding was dangling just outside of my grasp concerning prayer, as if by the Spirit the Holy One was luring me out into the deep waters of His Heart. It began with a news story I heard Paul Harvey discussing about a year ago. I have posted the link below and… Continue

KerenThea Gods Will: Change of Reaction, but not Change of Heart

Is this a sign of growh that You wanted to effect in me? Last night I was excited about going to a particularly wonderful church for Mass, I was excited because I had not been there in a while, and I was looking forward to seeing people I had not seen nor heard from in a while. At the end of the day; however, a situation came up at work and I was not able to go. This seems to happen frequently when I really want to go to this church. A year ago, I would have been really upset by this. N… Continue

KerenThea Fulfilling Love: Capacity for a Hole

Fulfilling Love: Capacity for a Hole

There is a hole inside, or at least the potential for a hole inside of each of us. I pour my heart and soul into the hole and it flows out. This hole is open ended. I want, I work, I wait, I wonder.. With my heart and soul I could build a floor, some walls, a roof on the ho… Continue

KerenThea Praying for the Human Race

"Whoever you are, whatever led you to this site, welcome. You will not find anything fashionable, not even a concern for being different. "From the Official Web site of the Carthusian Order of Monks and Nuns. http://www.chartreux.org/en/frame.html Let's be alone together. The Carthusians are a community of hermit monks. They live individually alone among a group of other monks living individually alone. They pray and they write; they g… Continue

Old Pete Where are we on the journey?

This blog has been prompted by the discussion on "Faith - what, why and how?" I have been on this journey outside the four walls of traditional Christianity for some 40 years. Paula suggested that faith and prayer were two of the most difficult questions for Christians. I immediately thought of worship. I'm 74 and over the… Continue

Patti Palmer Faith

Faith Faith brings understanding, assurance, reality to the unknown, peace & promise. Without faith... we cannot please God, we are unable to see the unseen, we, in truth, have no being. What is the purpose of a life without faith? Without faith there is no purpose! Faith is the building block, th… Continue

Ginny Pamplin The Tale of Two Trees

The Tale of Two Trees Once there was a nursery that specialized in the development of trees, and it was called (oddly enough!) the Nursery of the Trees. This nursery was covered by the Tent of Protection, and the trees were planted in acres and acres of thick black earth uniquely developed to meet their individual nutritional needs. The Nursery of the Trees was the place of beautiful plantings by the hand of a great master Gardener. When there was a particular need in the garden of earth for a… Continue

Amy Dawson Where can I go? ~ Right now in poetry

Where can I go-- where can I go where you will believe the best about me give me the benefit of the doubt for once stop tryin to cast devils outta me? Where can I go where people mean what they say and believe in redemption and stop bringing up everything I used to do yesterday? where I can be honest and open and say how I feel and it be okay, whether you agree or not, it be okay? Where can I go where I get a fighting chance to stand for a minute without someone proclaiming to be under the uncti… Continue

KerenThea "That's a Strange Way of Saying You Love Me"

I wonder if God ever shakes his head and laughs at all the different ways his children all across the world show their love for him? Think about it..the different cultures, religions, costumes, rituals, rites, practices, etc. Ya know...I bet He delights in it! "Look how they "Love me"! Just Look! Keep loving Me in whatever way you know how, and with what feels right to you, from whatever distance. Challenge me in ways to get more response from me - (I've been communicating with you all… Continue

Patti Palmer Splendor of God

Splendor of God How infinitely wide is the splendor of God! He teases our senses with every movement of nature. His symphony isn’t always for the ears. It fills the mind, body & soul with an overwhelming sense of love. Love! Love! His love, unlike any you have ever experienced. Perfect! Peaceful! Exhilarating! Complete in every way! Why do we search for substitutes for a love that can never be replaced. Why do we insist that there is a better way, a better love around the corner, ...down th… Continue

Amy Dawson This is where I'm at right now kinda poetry.

I just moved from PA to AZ. Still trying to figure things out. It's not easy. It's not easy at all. ~ AmyD. Walking around, my arms stretched out feelin' around me Trying to make sense outta something I just can’t see Straining to remember the sound of the wind Ears burning by words, dripping with religion Where is that sound? Where’s that sound--where’s the wind? Clamor, you’re too loud! ‘What makes sense’ has boxed me in Rising rising rising rising rising rising-up—a fight within my gut It'… Continue

KerenThea Solidarity

The recent news of the brutal gang rape in California has very much disturbed my heart. I prayed about it this morning, and I held the young girl and her family in my heart, during a group rosary this morning and asked the Blessed Mother hold my hand and go with me to question Jesus and ask for illumination on why these things still happen - in a "civilized" time and country? All horrendous things people do to each other really bother me, yet this really hit me hard. I don’t know why. Was it be… Continue

Ginny Pamplin Beautiful World

It started out like any other morning, driving to the Boro to work. Until I saw it, teasing me out of the corner of my eye. It glistened like the mist from whence it came, shimmering colors that were hinted at and then faded into one another. At every red light I stared, twisted, tried to get a good pict… Continue

Ginny Pamplin Beacon in the Night

(written circa 12/07, posted here to encourage those who may know the valley of the shadow) There is an odd notion (little more than a wish, really)which whispers that perhaps those who have gone before can somehow extend their influence on behalf of those who follow. This notion comes at the strangest of times—times that call for the prudent and the pragmatic to be ware and not be lost in wispy flights of fancy. Times that scoff at the improbability of magical help, while at the same time crea… Continue

KerenThea Don't Scold a Lover or Even a Potential Lover

"This Longing: Moses and the Shepherd" Jelaluddin Rumi (Persia, 1207-1273) from This Longing, translation by C. Barks and J. Moyne Moses heard a shepherd on the road praying, "God, where are you? I want to help You, to fix Your shoes and comb Your hair. I want to wash Your clothes and pick the lice off. I want to bring You milk, to kiss Your little hands and feet when it's time for You to go to bed. I want to sweep Your room and keep it neat. God, my sheep and goats are Yours. All… Continue

How to be a Nobody

How to be a Nobody
By Kwee Lain

Everybody wants to be a somebody
Nobody knows how to be a nobody
If ever there is a somebody
Who knows how to be a nobody
Then that nobody is a real somebody

If you ever want to be a nobody
Then follow that somebody
Who already is a nobody
Later, let go of everybody
Even that somebody
Who already is a nobody
Eventually, you will be a real nobody

Written by somebody, who wants to be a nobody, for the benefit of everybody.
