Fellow nobodies, you all are full of grace, mercy, warmth and passion. Wonderful & Christ like characteristics! Vicki, the ekklesia is the place to bare all, so to speak. To love, be loved and go on to love. Never be afraid to speak what is in your…

I very much like what is being said here.... that no one escapes God's mercy, and we absolutely underestimate the dimensions of his love. Yes! One day when I was in college, I was out walking on campus on a day off, and I said to myself, "I think t…

yes, and i would add... for now and well past our 'last breath'..... i think it is our underestimation of love and overly eager desire for "punishment" (collectively speaking) that wants to place a time limit on the trinity of Love.

Vicki, I think you are quite right---if I understand you correctly---that humankind indeed is much more likely to underestimate God's love than to overestimate it. I think that's why so many have been hoodwinked into thinking there is something the…

Keren, I don't have a problem at all with your take on John 3:16-21, as far as you went on it. Let me add another really uncomfortable Scripture that raises the same questions, to see if it really is saying what our "tried and true" evangelical inte…

The Only Way

There are SO many things that I think the church has misinterpreted over the years that may have caused us to be narrow-minded in our thinking. There are some still that I cannot get away from and may eventually find my way (God's way) around.

Here is my take on one issue: Jesus being the only way to heaven. Where do we get this from? "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father but through me." Perhaps there are more scriptures - such as "For God so loved the world that He… Continue

Balm for the Soul

The porch swing softly calls me and I respond on the now rare morning that other duties do not demand my presence. The air is in that state of perfection in which you do not even ponder degrees. The geese give a friendly honk as they migrate towards warmer climes. The lazy breeze drifts through the autumn limbs with enough effort to occasionally tickle the chimes and tumble the leaves towards their predecessors on the hodgepodge of green splattered with gold and brown. Meanwhile the sun peeks th… Continue

What I miss...

I was just watching Kari Jobe singing "Revelation Song" and "The More I Seek You". I miss the true praise and worship I experienced in church. I know there have been times when the 'worship leader' would work to 'stir the people up'. That's not what I'm talking about. But speaking from a praise team perspective, I can kind of understand it because it's very frustrating when you're in worship mode (your whole being is consumed with worship) and the people just stand there and look at you. That's… Continue

Maybe a bad day is just a bad day - or is it?

I had a few minor inconveniences this morning - nothing horrible, but my former method of handling this would have been irritation and thinking it was going to a bad day! I refused to accept that. I instead insisted it was a great day, maintained my cheeriness, gratefulness and pleasure in God's creation ... and things got worse. I had a problem and was encouraged by thinking God had given a wonderful solution, in a wonderful way - I was all happy and excited and just, frankly, rejoicing! Found… Continue

He is the Best!

Jesus, I love You because You care, I couldn't imagine if You weren't there. You are the joy of my salvation, You're the peace in my storm. It was You who made my life complete, You are to me my everything and that is why I sing. - Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir

It’s my desire to praise Him and to lift His name. It’s my desire to give Him all the glory, the honor, forever and ever for He is more than worthy of my praise. I’ve only come to worship; I’ve only come to pour the oil of praise at the feet… Continue

Hey Paula! I'm not on here enough to be of benefit to the book club, so I'm going to make you and adagio administrators, if that's alright with you. Hope everything's going well with you!

Hey Paula! I'm only on here every once in a while...feel free to do whatever you like in the book club. I started it as a place for people to read and discuss together, even and most especially without me involved! I hope all is going well with you! Now I'm off to check in with the book club...

thanks Paula!
but I meant the book, it will take me some time to catch up on all the blog conversations! I bought the book about a year ago after I read The Shack and a couple of Wayne Jacobsen's books. I've been restless in church for a while now and I'm just looking for more people who really want to share the journey. God always nudges me to a book right when it's time to read it, I know several people who have the same experience. I've just moved to a new town with my brother and sister in law and don't know anyone here yet. This book has really ministered to me, and I'm really glad to find this website!

Eating right is how I lost my weight. I had tried exersizing and cuting down on food and still didn't lose much if any weight. When I started eating non-processed food, the weight came off. Drank alot of water too.

Hi Paula! ( I just clicked on respond to your comment, but it looks like it may end up being posted somewhere else ???? anyway . . . )To answer your question about N.T. Wright, Bruxy may not have been referring to any one particular book. Wright puts a lot of weight on the worldview of Judaism in the first century as a framework for understanding Jesus and Paul (who was a Rabbi himself and a self-proclaimed "Pharisee of Pharisees"). In the last century, there has been an anti-Jewish slant to many different fields of study and ironically, (or maybe not ironically), Biblical studies was not exempt from such an attitude.

Wright's book Jesus and the Victory of God lays out a methodology for understanding the New Testament which would include how the Jews in those days would have perceived themselves. It is a very long and heavy read. For a lighter version of some of Wright's thoughts, you might try What St. Paul Really Said.

Also you can find a lot of his shorter articles on www.ntwrightpage.com

Hope this helps!

How to be a Nobody

How to be a Nobody
By Kwee Lain

Everybody wants to be a somebody
Nobody knows how to be a nobody
If ever there is a somebody
Who knows how to be a nobody
Then that nobody is a real somebody

If you ever want to be a nobody
Then follow that somebody
Who already is a nobody
Later, let go of everybody
Even that somebody
Who already is a nobody
Eventually, you will be a real nobody

Written by somebody, who wants to be a nobody, for the benefit of everybody.
