I think it is so interesting that man must define over and over again of what God has called the ekklesia. Man loves parameters and definite boundaries. I believe God probably is somewhat amused with what we call 'church' and also very sad & maybe a…

I believe that the world has been bound up in 'religion' and not been introduced to the 'relationship' for far too long. Another great resource about the history of 'christendom', is a book by Frank Viola, Pagan Christianity. Not only is it historic…

Hello Nobodies! I came here by way of Jim's blog. I got to Jim's blog from reading his books. Do I agree with everything that is said here, no, but I don't need to agree to learn, grow and be closer to my Father and his Kingdom. I do need to listen,…

Faith

Faith

Faith brings understanding,
assurance,
reality to the unknown,
peace & promise.

Without faith...
we cannot please God,
we are unable to see the unseen,
we, in truth, have no being.

What is the purpose of a life without faith?
Without faith there is no purpose!
Faith is the building block,

Splendor of God

Splendor of God

How infinitely wide is the splendor of God!
He teases our senses with every movement of nature.
His symphony isn’t always for the ears.
It fills the mind, body & soul with an overwhelming sense of love.
Love! Love!
His love, unlike any you have ever experienced.
Perfect!
Peaceful!
Exhilarating!
Complete in every way!
Why do we search for substitutes for a love that can never be replaced.
Why do we insist that there is a better way, a better love around the corner,
...down th… Continue

Curse reversal!

No longer will there be any curse. (Rev. 22:3)

Redemption!

Those who have trusted God will see just how glorious His creation is! God will walk with us once again!

God saw all that He had made and it was very good. (Gen. 1:31)

Creation wasn't ruined-it was shadowed by our sin. Christ has redeemed the believers & the earth will be renewed in eternity!

..unity to all things in heaven & on earth under Christ. (Eph.1:10)

Eden will be restored. Heaven will come down and complete relatio… Continue

Order=havoc; Chaos=Life

Order breeds havoc, chaos breeds Life! (Paul James-the gardener guy)

God's order is not our order.

Look at nature. He has gifted each living thing with its own beauty.

As with most things, humans try to modify/change/control what God has created to live naturally. Examples: gardens, governments & 'church'...it is those things that are tied to control that seem to wither and die, those that live a God life..flourish!

The word 'creation', to me, teaches a form of life that is completely tu… Continue

I saw God today!

I saw God today!
In the gentle breeze that ruffled the leaves. In the humming birds dance around the feeder.
A neighbor's hello while walking his dog.
The light from my daughters eyes as she speaks of her best friend.
My husbands laughter at a silly movie scene.
My dog who loves me, completely, even as imperfect as I am.
The spider spinning its web.
A nib in the air-promising of the coming fall.
My son's voice outside.
A homecoming.
The anticipation I feel at the family dinner coming tonight!

I can see why you couldn't see where I was going - one of the problems for those with Aspergers is putting thoughts together in a coherent way.

I am not a scholar and I find it almost impossible to memorise scripture. You gave me a definition of faithful remnant that didn't fit with my understanding, and then you said that Romans 9 is a great part of scripture about the remnant. Remnant for me indicates something left over - a remainder - a few. Paul here is surely referring to Israel?

Scripture does say that many are called but few are chosen. This seems to be something that the majority of churches seem to ignore.

At this point let me say that I have a belief that 'this is not the only day of salvation' - that only a few will really accept their calling in this life, and that the 'day of judgment' occurs at some point in the future.

Tucked away in an article I wrote about 'Suffering' is the following paragraph:
Consider Romans 9 – the context seems to be that only a few were being called to salvation in the early NT church – children of Abraham – chosen by God!
Paul writing to the gentile Christians at Ephesus reminded them that they had been without Christ, utter strangers to God’s chosen community, Israel, and had no knowledge of, or the right to, the promised agreements. They had had nothing to look forward to and no God to whom they could turn (Eph 2.11on).
Who are we to judge God (Rom 9.14-20)? God’s thoughts are so far above ours! Maybe we should be asking the question:
"What purpose is there to life, unfair as it may sometimes seem?"

I only ask questions to encourage people to think for themselves - its not for me to teach others - does what I have written make sense now?

I was a little surprised at your definition of 'faithful remnant' because I tend to see people who refer to being part of the remnant as those who have more of the real truth based on greater knowledge and understanding - usually somewhat elitist! There was a time for example when we 'knew' we were the one and only true church because nobody else kept the Sabbath and Biblical Holy Days properly - as we did!!!

I've spent some time thinking about what you wrote (like Paula I am reluctant to talk about praying). I recognise that there is an enormous difference between the Christian religion and the Christian faith (those dominated by fear or those aware of a loving relationship) - the old chestnut of head knowledge or heart awareness! Are you suggesting that we become part of the remnant when we recognise it as a matter of the heart? - a time when we are no longer governed by head knowledge? - a remnant of true believers when Jesus returns who would be anything but elitist?

I have had quite a bit of contact with people involved in the emerging / emergent movement. One of the problems I see is that many of the young leaders who have been to Bible college see much wrong with the 'church' and feel that because they have their 'degrees' that they are qualified to help put it right. But at the same time I have had long discussions with older leaders who recognise some of the weaknesses but feel called to stay and support those (especially older people) who remain within the church environment.

How to be a Nobody

How to be a Nobody
By Kwee Lain

Everybody wants to be a somebody
Nobody knows how to be a nobody
If ever there is a somebody
Who knows how to be a nobody
Then that nobody is a real somebody

If you ever want to be a nobody
Then follow that somebody
Who already is a nobody
Later, let go of everybody
Even that somebody
Who already is a nobody
Eventually, you will be a real nobody

Written by somebody, who wants to be a nobody, for the benefit of everybody.
