Hi Keren, I share your concern for "His smallest, least, weakest, most naked, most frail tiniest particles of all creation." He marks the sparrow's fall, yes? We're each one children in his eyes. Brothers and sisters. No need to apologize at all!…

Wow, this is a fascinating discussion!! So many wonderful, thoughtful, passionate perspectives on things!! I'd like to add one more, via the take of an in-law of mine who was raised in Finland. Finland falls under the category of democratic-socialis…

Me too, Vicki. Thank you for reminding me -- as you have so many times, especially recently -- of the tightness that comes from striving, and the love to be found in waiting. To use your words, I am ready to linger in the dark, to be the last one…

Very interesting points, Steve! . Right now, for me, there is only enough energy to rest in the love of God, without rules, requirements, or rigid notions of right or wrong. . I’m feeling that the love of God is oceanic enough to hold everyone in ne…

One thing that seems to be an ongoing issue for me is trying to figure out which activities fit neatly in my “this is spiritual” box, and which don’t. I’m often wondering, does this book, this movie, this diversion draw me closer to God… or is it ju…

I agree Keren! There is so much loving insight here. Vicki, your story about young Christopher is so tender and moving! Thank you all! And thank you, John, for the honest self-inquiry that got this started! Warmest regards.

Hey Stephen, I think this is a wonderful question. This is one of those issues where I think Jesus meant what he said. But it is a tall order. I don't believe that walking with Jesus is meant to be easy, though. You're right talking about his compa…

Joel, I am so relieved that there's another nobody who reads various "bibles," as you put it. I have been reading meditations on Tao and the eight limbs of yoga and as I mentioned in another post, am finding Jesus there too. He is so much bigger than just One Book. In the not-so-distant past, I thought it was very wrong and sinful to be reading such things. But God has proved to be big enough to take care of me and keep me on track. Thank you for your post! I would love to be one of your nobody friends! Blessings!

Wow, Joel, thank you for your kind words. It is great to hear some of your story - and no, I didn't think an ill thing about your not responding immediately (I had actually forgotten I had asked)!

It seems our paths are almost inverse - yours seeming to start more with Judaism, Hinduism, and Buddhism, and mostly Jesus, whereas I was raised a pretty strict protestant, have (re)discovered Jesus and the freedom provided by God's love, and this has created in me a growing interested in the world's religions, and how God is being made known in them. Your response was great - and I'm glad you enjoyed writing it!

Peace, brother! I hope you have a great day!

Hey Joel! Thanks for the great "prophets" discussion!

I saw you mentioned you are Jewish - I'd love to hear more about that! I'm very interested in Judaism, both as a people group and as a religion! If you get the time and inclination, I'd love to hear about your practice and beliefs!

Peace, brother!

How to be a Nobody

How to be a Nobody
By Kwee Lain

Everybody wants to be a somebody
Nobody knows how to be a nobody
If ever there is a somebody
Who knows how to be a nobody
Then that nobody is a real somebody

If you ever want to be a nobody
Then follow that somebody
Who already is a nobody
Later, let go of everybody
Even that somebody
Who already is a nobody
Eventually, you will be a real nobody

Written by somebody, who wants to be a nobody, for the benefit of everybody.
