Thank you, Greg. You are most kind. I very much agree with: "Its ironic, the power of this medium, the internet. While we've never met in person, I absolutely know the purity of your intentions and the power of your faith." Keren's love stands out…

Dear Keren: I would not have questioned your intentions in offering help to the man in the store you encountered. Its ironic, the power of this medium, the internet. While we've never met in person, I absolutely know the purity of your intentions a…

Dear Paula: I just discovered this blog, I think I was on vacation when you posted it. I had to smile because I can deeply relate. I live with ADHD so my mind naturally skips from one interesting experience to another. Like you, I can do several t…

Dear Jacob: Steven wrote with insight and eloquence. I share his understanding. I believe Jesus intended that view "pefect" as being "whole, complete, one." God is whole, complete, One." Being perfect for the follower of Christ means not to be pe…

Dear Paula: I like your question and I like Debbie's example of Moses. I think the experience of Moses speaks to the heart of the issue. God stepped into Moses's life and promised to be with him as he led the ancient Hebrews out of slavery. God di…

Dear Dan: I love your honesty and authenticity. I'm probably most afraid of not having enough time, in terms of living. I don't worry alot, I'm learning to trust and just to "ride" life. But your question helped me to embrace the reality that I fe…

Dear Lenny: I like your thought provoking post. I also like the outlook you are modeling for your children. Conversion-transformation cannot occur as long as the attitude of "you vs. me" pervades - there is only us, humanity, God's family. I find…

Of course - I think it is most likely that radical surrender to love that released the power of the Spirit to move through Jesus. It says in Acts that the believers turned their world upside down by their love for one another. That kind of love woul…

I am God's Son

Jacob's post today about being judged encouraged me to write from my heart. All of us have been judged. Some more than others. I think it is important to keep a perspective. Knowing who we really are allows the judgment of the world to run off of us, like rain down the side of a building. We were made to be solid buildings. When we are secure in ourselves, well, let the judgment rain down.

I am God's son. God delights in me. I am not perfect, I am a sinner. But this is no surprise to God, God m… Continue

Who I Am

I am new to this wonderful site of authentic Christians. Compassion, love, honesty, and wisdom abound here. I am so happy I found Jim Palmer's "Divine Nobodies." I am blessed by Jim's story and this website he founded.

I have enjoyed reading about many of you and hope to continue to make my way through your stories and what is unfolding in your lives.

I also want to share who I am with you.

I am the lost sheep the good shepherd left the herd to find. I'm the lost coin the woman swept the floo… Continue

Heh Greg- looks like you're a "deacon" like I'm a "priest"(episcopal) -- part of the outward paraphernalia- not to be compared to the immensity of Christ dwelling in our hearts by faith and the daily adventure of just putting our lives into His hands and seeking Him in everything and everyone everyday. About 25 years ago, I stumbled on "naming and claiming"Galatians 2:20 as applying to me as well as paul and many others. It kind of changed the way I looked at Christian life--not without plenty of twists and turns and dark nights of course. Yet here we are where we always knew we'd be one day!!

About me:
I'm a fifty year one year old native of Ohio, I live in the small Ohio town I grew up in. I'm married twenty five years to Shelly, my best friend. We have four biological children, Julie 22, Sean 18, Patrick 16, and Tony 12. We adopted nine year old Billy this past Christmas Eve. We are in the process of adopting six year old Samantha who has lived with our family for a year. Additionally, my mother in law Linda lives us, she suffers from an advanced form of Parkinsons Disease and is unable to care for herself. I'm a bank vice-president and a Roman Catholic Permanent Deacon. We are ordained after several years of formation like Priests and our ministries are similar except we can be married once and we hold a civil occupation. I grew up with a Baptist grandmother and a Roman Catholic grandmother. They both taught me that God is love. The rosary, the saints, Billy Graham crusades and altar calls were all part of my childhood. I appreciate diversity and regularly experience the Risen Jesus in people of many church backgrounds and those who are not part of a church community. I accidentally found Jim Palmer's "Divine Nobodies" in a bookstore after finishing The Shack. I can deeply appreciate Jim's childhood challenges that in some ways reflect many similar challenges I grew up. Jim as much as anyone has helped me to grow in believing that God loves us for who we are, not what we do. He calls me beyond ritual and dogma to touch and love the living Christ who wants to be our friend and guide. Thank you Jim!

How to be a Nobody

How to be a Nobody
By Kwee Lain

Everybody wants to be a somebody
Nobody knows how to be a nobody
If ever there is a somebody
Who knows how to be a nobody
Then that nobody is a real somebody

If you ever want to be a nobody
Then follow that somebody
Who already is a nobody
Later, let go of everybody
Even that somebody
Who already is a nobody
Eventually, you will be a real nobody

Written by somebody, who wants to be a nobody, for the benefit of everybody.
