A poignant poem, Amy. And Ginny's response is Spirit filled. Amy, you are loved, for whose you are - not what you do, how you do it and what you look like. Those are human responses from some for brothers & sisters that do not fit in the 'box'. Jesu…

Amy - I have told you this before, but your writing is really great. Your "train wreck museum" post several months ago is one of my favorites and hit home to me in a personal way just as this poem does. Which is what good writing does, evokes feelin…

Where can I go? ~ Right now in poetry

Where can I go--
where can I go where you will believe the best about me
give me the benefit of the doubt for once
stop tryin to cast devils outta me?
Where can I go
where people mean what they say
and believe in redemption
and stop bringing up everything I used to do yesterday?
where I can be honest and open and say how I feel
and it be okay, whether you agree or not, it be okay?
Where can I go
where I get a fighting chance to stand for a minute
without someone proclaiming to be under the uncti… Continue

This is where I'm at right now kinda poetry.

I just moved from PA to AZ. Still trying to figure things out. It's not easy. It's not easy at all. ~ AmyD.

Walking around, my arms stretched out feelin' around me
Trying to make sense outta something I just can’t see
Straining to remember the sound of the wind
Ears burning by words, dripping with religion
Where is that sound? Where’s that sound--where’s the wind?
Clamor, you’re too loud! ‘What makes sense’ has boxed me in
Rising rising rising rising rising rising-up—a fight within my gut
It'… Continue

Walking Away From the Wreckage

It's been a while since the wreck. Not the "I'm going to the store in a while," but more like, "It's been a while since we've seen each other. You have grown so much taller" while. The kind of while that feels like yesterday but actually is more like a year ago, or two or three.

When I purchased my first car, I took the curve leading to the Turnpike too fast and sideswiped the guardrail. I would consider that an accident. A few years later, I hit some black ice and watched in slow motion as the… Continue

Sow a Little Sorry

My family has a hard time saying the words, "I'm sorry." Wait, that is an understatement. They don't have a hard time saying it, they just won't say it. This is not surprising as they won't even say, "Excuse me" if they fart at the dinner table either.

Some things need an "I'm sorry" to make things all better.

We all have learned how to just let the words fly and land where they may. I have had years of accountability with loved ones, that have filed my razor-sharp tongue down to a nubbin. Thr… Continue

Are We Quick to Blame?...You Bet Your Sweet Crazy!

"Although I do possess super-powers stemming from a childhood lightening incident, I am not telepathically commanding your dog to pee in the house." ~ My defending myself to the family.

My sister and I were running through the woods to get home during a storm. As we passed by a tree, it was struck by lightening and caught fire, sending us screaming and running home. I have a hyper-sensative sense of smell. I can sniff out the only dry diaper after lunchtime at a baby prune-eating convention. Pe… Continue

Amy, I love your writing and your stories and how you think! Do you have a blog elsewhere where you write more often? I'd love to read it.

Hi Amy! Just wanted to let you know that you're on my mind. I hope to catch up with you some time as we have stories we could share with each other. I plan to write a book about growing with mental illness and child abuse and how I have been so privileged to over come the difficult obsticles that were placed in my path before I could even talk...

Hope your day is going well! Ttyl

In love,
SFM

How to be a Nobody

How to be a Nobody
By Kwee Lain

Everybody wants to be a somebody
Nobody knows how to be a nobody
If ever there is a somebody
Who knows how to be a nobody
Then that nobody is a real somebody

If you ever want to be a nobody
Then follow that somebody
Who already is a nobody
Later, let go of everybody
Even that somebody
Who already is a nobody
Eventually, you will be a real nobody

Written by somebody, who wants to be a nobody, for the benefit of everybody.
