I am joining this group at Paula's request, although perhaps I should make it known that I am no longer a Christian as such. Coming from a Christian background, however, I have a good general knowledge of the scriptures and an interest in the subject. Also, I absolutely respect the right of each person to their own beliefs and opinions, and have no interest in "arguing!" : )

Lindsey, you are very welcome. Why don't you post your question as a discussion under this group. You're sure to get lots of responses. Just click "Start a Discussion" right above the Comment Wall.

Thank you for inviting me Paula
I guess the one question I would throw out here is for anyone that wants to reply what is a book, person, or story in scripture that stands out and speaks to you. Anyone reply that wants to...

I have been asked what I want to see discussed here. It's not really about what I want, but my intent was for people to discuss whatever is on their hearts from what they're reading/hearing from the Bible; feeling free to offer opinions, questions, facts they've gleaned from other sources or other parts of the Bible, insights gained from the Holy Spirit, etc. My only hope for this group is that we can offer what we have without getting into debate about who/what is right/wrong. I want everyone to feel free to contribute and say 'I don't see it that way' and offer their opinion without someone else trying to convince them that they are wrong. I think we have a lot of understanding to gain from each other and while we might not necessarily agree on interpretation, our understanding of the Bible and others' viewpoints can be broadened.

Paula and I have had a number of discussions elsewhere and I've really come to appreciate Greg's ability to put his thoughts in writing.

I was introduced to the concept of Safe Havens some 12 years ago but like Paula I've never found the place where I could openly share what some people would consider to be heretical views.
I've developed a bit of a reputation for asking awkward questions to which there are no easy answers. I've learned so much, especially over the last couple of years, of why people believe what they believe (often as a result of divisive theology). It has reinforced a belief that there are often no right answers - that Father in his wisdom doesn't want us to know all the answers now - and that the Christian faith is primarily about relationships rather than religion.

This has the potential for some real DMC's (deep and meaningful conversations) - let's just be open to guidance and see where we are led.

I have always wanted to be able to discuss the Bible with fellow believers, but have never had the appropriate forum to do so. I'm not looking for debate, although at one time I would have thrived on that. I'm looking for other viewpoints, further understanding of the time/culture/meaning of phrases, anything that sheds light on my understanding of the Bible.

How to be a Nobody

How to be a Nobody
By Kwee Lain

Everybody wants to be a somebody
Nobody knows how to be a nobody
If ever there is a somebody
Who knows how to be a nobody
Then that nobody is a real somebody

If you ever want to be a nobody
Then follow that somebody
Who already is a nobody
Later, let go of everybody
Even that somebody
Who already is a nobody
Eventually, you will be a real nobody

Written by somebody, who wants to be a nobody, for the benefit of everybody.
